barb wire
So today Maiya and Ayda and daddy went exploring!! We walked further into the poorer area today and at the end there is a big field surrounded by a fence full of barb wire. So we walked through the guarded gate and talked to the priest who must have been involved at the special needs school. He was very kind, then I heard Ayda crying out in the field so I walked out to here and started thinking in my head. I guess she could have been bitten by a cobra(which apparently gives one about 5 minutes) So I started to mentally prepare myself. When I got closer I saw a string of barbwire that was sticking through her sandal into her foot. Poor little gaffer. So we pulled it out and she stopped crying but then the gate keeper was gone and it was locked. The priest kindly sent for him so we didn't have to walk around which I have no idea how long that would have taken. About five minutes of waiting and the gate keeper peddled up and let us through. He said if it wasn't locked that the school yard would be full of the poor kids from our area. We continued our walk, it was along a narrow path above a creek/sewer. Houses hovered over the creek on stilts with narrow, steep planks for entrances. I couldn't help but wonder how many kids fall in?? When we finally weaved our way through all the little houses and people we got home and gave Ayda a tetanus shot. She was pretty brave so no big deal!! All in all a fun day. Oh and we saw lot's of baby goats and baby ducks.
