YOUCH!
We all went to the mall last night to get some groceries, school supplies and go out for a late mothers day dinner. We arrived at the mall and and found all of the girls school supplies went to pay and Theresa's wallet was gone! Not only a disappointment on the 5000 pesos gone but all the ID, will not be fun to recover from the Philippines. SO we retraced our steps and counted up our money (1peso) and went to sit outside. We texted our friends but none of them were going through, so we were just sitting there thinking we could walk but it is a long one and it is 6:30, the kids will all be crying soon. As we waited some kids 6-10 years old gathered around and said "Sir what is your problem" I said in tagalog "no money" and in english my wallet is gone. I asked them where they are from. They said Agham, which is a squatter area not too far away. Then these kids proceeded to give our girls 2 pesos each!! It was amazing, that these kids who work selling things amongst the crazy traffic to drivers, would give some of their money to a bunch of white kids! Cool none the less. Once we figured out that we would take a taxi home and our friend would meet us at the road with some money, we made the kids return the hard earned pesos. But it took some convincing. We arrived home safe and sound, thankful to be home, and actually had a good laugh. May be we were over tired!
