So we have a vacant lot full of overgrown plant life just behind our house. The only thing between us and it is our old broken down cement wall that is about 3 feet tall with barbwire on top. We asked a local neighbor to cut down the bushes so we could get some breeze in our house during the hot season. We were away for the day but came home and found it mostly done, and asked why it was only mostly done. They said it is full of snakes back there, nests everywhere and snakes went by him the size of his for arm! Needless to say he cut work early as it was too much for him! We asked if we should fix our wall or do anything they said no they can climb walls. Here is the debate, do we leave them alone since we have never actually seen one on our side of the fence or do we burn them out, probably causing a snake stampede over our fence into our yard?
I thought the wise thing to do would be to research the snakes in the Philippines to know what we are up against. There seem to be hundreds of different kinds on of which is the cobra listed at number 3 in the top ten list of most dangerous snakes!! The others range from extremely venomous water snakes, vipers, to 30 foot long ones. All in all the studying stopped as I realized it was just going to make me paranoid. This was proven as I walked to take the garbage out last night after dark. I kept thinking man it is stupid that I don't have a flashlight. (not that I had one the many many times before) On the way back I was picturing a 30 foot snake and the struggle we would have if he tried to squeeze me out. Just then a little cat popped out of the ditch and sent my heart rate up a few hundred beats a minute. Anyone want to go on a snake hunt??

I suggest getting dad out there to wrangle the snakes up... I guess you can not burn the area as they will move in with you....Love you guys
The farmboy in me says kill before they get you. But I don't know anything about snakes. We had some good times burning out rats but the worst they can do is run up your leg...
I am thinking is sounds like you need a snake wisperer!! Or you could dress up like a rodeo clown and run throught the bush to divert the snakes attention, if you keep running they will chase you and then the lot will be clear. How simple I am surprized that you didn't think of it that Ja! Being the offspring of an adventurer and part mountian!!!! man!!!!!
wow what clever and helpful advise thank you!!
