A Sad Week

The Ruel Foundation board of directors has decided that they do not feel comfortable with the liability of a maternity center anymore. Members of the board came out for a visit and we have been in many meetings for the last couple of weeks. They have decided to close the clinic and focus on their initial calling of malnourished kids. The work they do with malnourished kids has been amazing, and they are expanding into a bigger building. Our clinic will close at the end of July.

We have so many mixed feelings about it as we have poured our lives into it and we have some amazing midwives on staff and many, many women who need the care we can provide. Yet, we can see God's hand in the timing and so many of the details surrounding these events. We have personally been praying for what is next as we have long known that we are not here forever. We also know that God has set apart something for us with this being our training ground, here at Ruel Foundation. Theresa needs to leave the clinical setting in order to finish her academics and to prepare to write her exam. We haven’t felt peace about leaving until now to accomplish this.

As for us, we will most likely pick a location nearby and Theresa will study while we spend time asking God what is next for us. We feel that focusing on our family while Theresa's studies for a time will be a great move. Our friends Joe and Kristin will be joining us here in June, which also brings excitement because we have longed dreamed of serving with them.

Any donations which we have received will continue to be given away to the poor here. We may store some of the donations that are specific for a clinic, as we hope to open one in the future. Thanks for your understanding, please bear with us as we may be limbo for several months!
