Well, we are excited to say we met a wonderful group of people that gather in a small building and worship every week together. Many of them are from families who derive their income from driving motorbikes with side cars or fishing(in this economy, that kind of a living makes them very poor). The pastor of this church was once a part of a bigger church but felt like God asked Him to start a church among the poor. Our kids felt very welcomed and asked if we could go back.
This group of believers share lunch together every sunday which is also a blessing to all because it is provided by the church. It is mostly in Tagalog with some English, but we understand enough of it to follow along. The last time we felt connected to a church was when we lived in Manila, and of course our church families at home. SO, we feel really excited to connect with this church and serve alongside them.
We are recently debating whether to put the kids in Filipino school or continue doing things at home for them. I feel like it will be unfair to live here and shelter them from school with normal kids. And if sheltered, they will never need to use tagalog and thus will never learn. We will go and check out a school for Maiya and Ayda tomorrow. Wish us luck!
Our new house is wonderful and quiet, such a blessing! It feels very much like home already.
