Dreams and thoughts

As we pick our way through busy sidewalks and noisy street venders our eyes often come across some of the most destitute of people here. They are the disabled. Some crawl on hands and knees with paper bags wrapped around their stumps or just hop from person to person hoping for a hand out. Some hook their limbs in pitiful positions hoping to excrete some compassion out of people passing by. They are not considered employable as their beauty goes unnoticed by the busy world around them. Companies here shamelessly advertise the required beauty and measurements of future employees, so if you do not measure up don't bother applying!

As we have often dreamed of having a small bakery based on our great grandpa's recipes, I can't help but think many of these disabled guys could totally work in a bakery! We could speak value over their lives, and enable them to provide for themselves.

I think I met my fist guy the other day in the market. He was seventeen years old. One eye slanted sharply into his nose, he had one leg missing below the knee and only four fingers on one hand. I thought to myself he is perfect! He is totally capable of baking! He was begging for food so I bought him some rice and chicken and gave him a business card. I told him to call me in a few months. He must have been from a poor family as he could not even give me a cell phone number of anyone in his house. SO I will wait and see if he calls me.

My thought is I would buy a commercial oven and mixer. Then start baking twice a week. We would market to foreigners here as they are all starved for good bread! We could deliver or have the bread picked up and we will have a website that they can pre order and pay online.

All this while we deliver babies next door and build houses and clinics!

Just one of our latest dreams!

Dream big Jason. And we'll pray too. It just may be the Lord's vision and He's waiting for someone to do it. Praying, Jane
